day 47–PROM your clothes. for reals.

Happy Tuesday! I am SO very glad the kids are back in school today. I adore having them home with me, but after 2 extra days at home, they’re on each other’s nerves and I start making empty threats.
I’m pretty sure I told one of them that if she kept up her behavior I was going to move her bed into the gardening shed. Not my finest moment…
anyhow. back to “normal.” or whatever that means for you!
Today:
PROM your closet and your dresser drawers. If you need to take a few days to do this, take them. Get rid of any clothes you haven’t worn within the last calendar year (unless you were pregnant, or are going through something else life-altering…). For inspiration, check out my friend Susan’s flikr page of all her outfits—she’s done a great job of streamlining her closet, and is taking a daily picture of her clothing choices.
find a friend who would love your hand-me-downs, or schedule a charity drop-off or pick-up ASAP. Don’t leave the bags lying around, or you’ll be tempted to second-guess yourself.

I love Holidays. I love having an extra day on the weekend to relax. We seem to cram so much into our weekends that an extra day is a welcome blessing. I plan to plug in crockpots, fold laundry, and watch the Olympics today. How about you?
Today:
PROM the tupperware containers. get rid of anything without lids!
coming up tomorrow: PROMing the clothes.
and exercise. I think I’ve eaten my weight in chocolate. Scratch that, I KNOW I have…
I hope you had a wonderful Valentine’s Day!
day 44 & 45–Valentine’s Day and President’s Day

44 & 45
It’s finally the weekend! I’ve had the longest short week in the history of the world. The kids were home Thursday and Friday, which was nice, but we packed SO VERY MUCH in the first three days of the week that I’m still catching up.
I’m sort of exhausted, actually.
But! I’m on TV today at 8:45 or so am on a local channel. It’ll be a fun experience, but because of it I’ve needed to cook two extra things in crockpots (creme brulee and pomegranate beef), find clothes that actually fit (I’m going to wear a maternity top, but somehow my regular jeans fit? beyond weird.), and squeeze in a visit to the nail place. I didn’t get a hair cut, which means my last hair cut was in October. shh. don’t tell anyone.
and this site was down, which was kind of frustrating.
Thank you for all of the sweet emails—I think it’s back to normal now.
The last time I remember Valentine’s Day being the same time as President’s Day weekend was in 1997. or was it 98? I’m not really sure, but I do know that it was the first and only time I’ve gone skiing. It was fun, but I don’t see me doing it again any time soon. I think I’d rather sit in a cozy place with a good book.
anyhow, This Weekend:
have a wonderful Valentine’s Day!
keep up with the Daily 7 as much as you can so it isn’t a rude awakening on Tuesday morning
have the kids help out around the house, moreso than usual. They are home, and therefore and making more messes. Put them to work!

Something fishy is going on with the site. I seem to no longer be able to auto-post, so I’m going to post this live on Thursday night. My fingers are crossed that it works! I keep losing posts which is highly annoying. I think I might need to update my wordpress, which I’ve been putting off. I get it that most people who are “real” bloggers like wordpress way more than blogger, but I much prefer blogger. I can understand it!
Today:
get ready for Valentine’s Day. It’s this Sunday. Get cards, toys, chocolate, and whatever you need to get for the kids and anyone else.
Convince your husband to not buy over-priced flowers. It’s much more romantic to get flowers for $1.99 from Trader Joe’s for no reason at all.
mop, vacuum, and gear up for a long weekend
if you’re in the snow, stay warm and cozy! The news makes it seem absolutely nutty.

day 42–reclaim the master bedroom

Today is Thursday, and the kids are home for the next FIVE days.
F.I.V.E.
I’m going to keep them busy emptying their dresser drawers, and refolding the clothes. I sort of kind of freaked out the other day when I went looking for a pair of white leggings that had gone missing and discovered that dirty clothes were shoved into some of the drawers, and that not one article of clothing was folded. Which is strange, since I watch them fold their clothes each afternoon…
it’s a mystery.
While they work, I’m going to work on the master bedroom. Ours tends to be the collection ground for anything we don’t know quite where to put, and that’s not really fair.
so,
Today:
Reclaim the master bedroom. Or at least most of it!
exercise!
try not to badger the kids too awful much since they are supposed to be on vacation
yesterday: PROMing the media collection

Happy Wednesday!
I wrote this post last night to have it auto-post, but for some reason it never did. Weird!
Today:
PROM magazines, and your DVD and CD collection
Toss your magazines. No, really! Any recipe, article, or picture can be found again on the Internet. If you are truly opposed, tear out the page(s) you need. Magazines are not decorative items. Neither are catalogs. The holidays are long over. Purge the catalogs!
Go through the family CD and DVD collection and save only those that are regularly enjoyed. Assign a basket or decorative bin to each family member to store his or her personal favorites.
keep up with the Daily 7
exercise!
have a wonderful day.

Well, I did pretty well yesterday with my weekend recovery, although as I type, I’ve got the remnants of three loads of folded laundry on the couch staring at me.
This is a busy week with school board meetings, softball practice, the 100th day of school, a spring concert, Valentine’s Day parties, and 2 girl scout meetings. I needed Monday to be low-key in order to gear up for the next few days!
Today:
run errands
PROM kitchen cabinets—go super quickly, don’t obsess
3D Heart Craft
–cut hearts out of colored construction paper
–pick two hearts of the same size
–find the half-way point of the fold in the middle
–starting at the top, cut one heart down the middle of the fold to the halfway point
–cut the other heart to the middle point starting from the bottom
–slide the hearts together using the cut slits
–decorate with stickers, markers, glitter, etc.
–punch hold and hang with thread

day 39–February 8th, Weekend Recovery

Hello to a brand new week! It’s Monday, and time to recover from the weekend. I’ve got a lot of recovery to do—we had 11 kids and 10 adults over last night for the Super Bowl, and while we did do a good job of tidying up last night, there’s a lot more to do. I know there’s a bunch of orange barbecue chip crumbs behind the rocking chair, and I saw a margarita glass overturn, which means that there’s probably a sticky area all around the coffee table.
But it’s all good—-and there’s absolutely nothing to stress over.
Take today to catch up on the stuff that needs to be caught up on, and enjoy the day. It’ll be over before you know it.
Today:
meal plan if you haven’t already
yesterday: weekend family time
day 37 & 38—family PROMing
37 & 38
Happy Weekend! We’ve got a relatively busy weekend (for us), and I’ve got to admit I’m a teensy bit stressed at all that needs to happen.
~~~deep breath in, deep breath out~~~
Because we’re expecting a lot of kids at our house on Sunday, the girls and I have been “cleaning” by putting a lot of their things away and out of sight. I much prefer the look of clean surfaces and empty floors, whereas they prefer to know where all of their stuff is by being able to see absolutely everything. At all times.
It felt really good to PROM a bunch today with them, and to get rid of a few bags of random crap they were holding on to for no good reason. They were keeping folded gum wrappers…??
This Weekend:
keep up with the daily 7 as much as you can
company clean if needed
continue PROMing play and living spaces
yesterday: friday weekly reflection
day 36–February 5th, weekly reflection
It’s finally Friday! This week went back and forth between flying and crawling by. I’m exhausted, due to a congested baby who hates the booger sucker. I don’t blame her for hating the booger sucker, but I’m oddly fascinated by it. That probably sounds a bit weird.
Today:
prep for the weekend—Super Bowl plans? are you entertaining? Do you need to company clean? (I do. it’s the 100th day of school on Monday, and the kitchen table has been overrun by art supplies.)
weekly reflection:
what went really well this week?
what didn’t?
anything you can do next week to make it run any smoother?
Have a wonderful weekend!
yesterday: continuing with the PROMing
