day 78–spend some time working outside, weather permitting

What’s the weather like at your house? Has the ground thawed at all? We’ve had a bout of beautiful spring weather, and although my allergies are all wonked out, I’m itching (literally, HAH!) to get outside and play in the dirt.

But first I need to hose off the porch and outdoor furniture.

If it’s not possible to start readying the yard for spring, don’t worry about it—just make a note on your calendar to get it done in a month or so.

If you’ve got little ones at home, dress them in rain gear (or if warm enough, a swim suit with a rain coat and boots) and let them have fun with the hose.

Hello there! Happy Thursday–you’ve almost made it to the end of another week. Congratulations!

I hope everyone had a wonderful St. Patrick’s Day. I did–up to a point—I had a traditional corned beef and cabbage meal with grandma and grandpa and then headed off to an education foundation meeting to discuss budget cuts.

I should have stayed at the dinner!

Today:

change the linen! it’s been a while…

speed dust, vacuum, and speed mop

daily 7

schedule one-on-one time with each kid for the weekend

It’s the seventy-fifth day of the year! Now you can call in to a radio station with this fascinating tidbit of information.

You’re welcome.

Today:

errands

daily 7

spring clean: wipe down the baseboards in the main entry, living, and dining room. I find using a (very slightly) damp cloth works the best.

day 74!!

Hello to a brand new week!

I hope you had a wonderful weekend and everything went well with the Spring Forward. I love having a bit more daylight at the end of the day, and the sun was shining full force at our house the past two days, which was fantastic. I definitely feel droopy if I can’t get a solid dose of sunlight and Vitamin D.

You’ve got a month before your taxes are due. Is everything taken care of? Scheduled to be taken care of?

Today:

recover from the weekend

prepare/shop/meal plan for St. Patrick’s Day, if you haven’t already

daily 7

figure out taxes

yesterday: weekend togetherness, schedule punch list items

72 & 73

As I type, it is storming like CRAZY outside, and I’ve got the kids hooked up on two different computers using the typing tutor Jennifer and Nicole recommended. The kids are thrilled, and so am I. Thank you!! I’m looking forward to checking out the other sites mentioned in yesterday’s comment section. I really appreciate your recommendations, thank you.

This weekend:

schedule punch list items for completion

keep up with the daily 7

plan meals for the upcoming week

try to get in a family meeting to talk about spring break and summer plans

Good morning!! Happy Friday!!

What’s your weekend looking like? Ours is nutty again, but I think it’s the last nutty one we’ve got scheduled for a while.

I’m beginning to think about spring break, which gets me thinking about summer vacation. We don’t have anything planned for this spring break, since I’m working on a deadline, which means that the (big) kids need to find a way to amuse themselves for a few hours a day.

Do you have any website suggestions that might be good for their ages (5 1/2 and 8 1/2)? We like poptropica and starfall, and they just started digging around on eduplace.

I’d love to know of some history and/or science-based sites that have family-friendly content, and maybe some sort of typing tutor? Does a good foreign language site exist?

Anyhow—that’s what’s in my brain right now. Instead of working. Because I’m procrastinating…

day 70–thursday, ALREADY!

How on earth did it get to Thursday already? This week has been a complete blur. Last thing I remember, I was waking Monday morning to a brand new week.

freaky.

How’s everyone doing? Are you finding it’s easier to spring clean this year after clearing out a bunch of clutter last month? What else do you need to work on?

There’s less than a week before St. Patrick’s Day (it’s next Wed!). Does a naughty leprechaun visit your house? Do you need to do anything to prepare?

hint: forgo the green glitter. trust me. it gets everywhere, and you’ll still be vacumming it out of the couch cushions come Fourth of July.

Today:

catch up on past stuff

daily 7

mentally prepare for the weekend (or maybe that’s just me?)

yesterday: clean out the fireplace. or something else equally icky.

Good morning!

Put on some old clothes–we’re going to do my least favorite task of all: cleaning out the fireplace.

If you don’t have a fireplace, or don’t use it, pick something else to clean. Or don’t. I can’t see you!

Today:

speed dust, vacuum, and quick mop

day 68–Tuesday toothpick cleaning

We played softball last night. In hail.

I’m still warming up!

Today, I plan on toothpick cleaning the kitchen and bathroom. It sounds bizarre, I know. Toothpicks are great at getting the icky grime and gunk out from cracks around the stove handles and buttons. Our dishwasher has a seam around the control panel that hides gook as well. I also use them around the sinks and faucets in the kitchen and  bathrooms. This is a great (and amusing!) job for school-aged children.

Today:

daily 7

spring clean by toothpick cleaning

run errands

yesterday: weekend recovery
