How’s summer treating you so far? We’ve been trying to keep pretty busy. I have a bunch of mommy-guilt because I was pregnant last summer and didn’t stray very far from the couch. The big kids certainly learned how to be self-sufficient, though!

Have you looked to see if your local Century/Cinemark movie theaters offer a $1 movie special for the summer? It’s a great way to soak up the air conditioning!

Monday!

Happy Monday to you!

Do a weekend recovery quickly and get on with your day. Write down a list of 5 things per kid that they need to accomplish throughout the day and check off.                                                                                                I always give my kids a freebie, like “eat breakfast.” There’s no way that they aren’t going to eat breakfast, and it’s just as satisfying to kids as it is for adults to cross items off a list.

the weekend:days 177 & 178

Hooray for the weekend!

I hope you’ve got some fun planned. We do. I’ve got a bit of work to tackle, but I should be done by mid-day Saturday.

yay!

If you’re out in the yard, tend to a few small things that need it, but only if it doesn’t take away from having fun. Grab a handful of weeds, trim a branch or two, and water the vegetables—that kind of thing. If you’re feeling ambitious, look over your punch list and see if there’s anything you can cross off with only a few minutes worth of work.

I’m always amazed at how easy it is to touch up the paint trim. Once I dig out the paint can, I can get quite a bit done in no time flat, yet I’m a horrendous procrastinator and so I don’t.

I really should though.

huh.

maybe next weekend.

We crammed more into this week than we have in a very. long. time. The kids are absolutely exhausted, but in a good way. I love seeing the sun-kissed cheeks and the skinned knees, and the dirt-caked feet. I love summer!

the 175th day of the year

It’s Thursday already! Man, this week is just flying by. I’m happy to report that we are now fully relaxed and in summer mode. It took a few days for the kids to remember how to be around each other all day long, but they are now playing nicely and we’re having a ball. I’m so glad. We’re also spending more time outdoors than in, which means the house isn’t getting quite as destroyed as it did during Winter Break when it rained for 16 days straight.

woo hooo!!

Today:

run errands. I’m hitting up the drug store, the post office, and need to get a wedding gift (they already have a crockpot… sigh)

when was the last time you changed the linens?

call a good friend you’ve been neglecting and catch up

Happy Wednesday! I hope your week is going really well, and that you are having fun and feeling productive. Yesterday we picked a bathroom to thoroughly clean. Tackle another one today. Change out the bathmats, scrub whatever grout lines need it, and bleach the toilet.

Happy Monday! I hope all of the dads in your life had a great day yesterday. We had a fantastic weekend—lots of outdoor and family time. One really good thing about being out of the house for most of the day is that the house stays much cleaner than when we’re all at home!
