The end of the year is approaching. Fast. Even though I didn’t intend to, I’ve already begun my ritual of wandering around the house deep in thought. What went well this year? What didn’t? How can we make next year even better?
Counting your blessings is very important. the most important, actually. but I also think it’s okay to look forward to new ones.
what’s on your list?
Today:
don’t worry about your To Do list. Make a list of 5 things to MAKE HAPPEN today. Do it. Get them done. start the week of with a bang.
on a side note: I was happy to find this blog today (yesterday!): Pen and Prosper. She has fantastic writing tips, and a terrific list of writing blogs in the sidebar. Here’s a great article on getting started freelance writing.
and? I have another visa giftcard up for grabs on Totally Together Reviews
Have a wonderful Monday. This is going to be a great week. xoxo

It’s Wednesday! My cards arrived from Shutterfly two days ago and they’ve remained in the box on the hall table since answering the door from the UPS guy.
I’ve got boxes upon boxes of packages in my master closet and piled in front of my dresser. The wrapping paper is in the trunk of the van. Scotch tape and adhesive bows have been bought, but are on top of the dryer (I don’t really have a reason for this).
my hope for today is to unwrap some boxes, recycle the cardboard, and print out address labels for the cards.
What’s on your agenda?
Today:
sweep, mop, vacuum
Happy December!

Hello! How was Thanksgiving? How do you feel? Are you tired and sluggish? Worn out and exhausted? or Excited and Exhillerated?
Are you black friday shopping?
I only did the black friday thing once. My friend picked me up at 4:30 and we went to Walmart. I didn’t buy anything but a 1.5 quart crockpot (and this was in 2005, way before I went crockpot-crazy) for $5. Score!
Today:
Holiday recovery. Drink some strong coffee, turn on upbeat music and get it done. Unload the dishwasher and load it right back up again.
clorox wipe or lysol the doorknobs, phones, remotes, and light switches.
Friday! woo hoo!

I’m still having dental pain, even after taking a course of antibiotics. I’ve got a refill for the abx, and am going to fill it tomorrow. The pain subsided after taking the last dose, then has come back with full vengence in the past 2 days (my last pill was Saturday). Does that sound right? Is it still possible it’s still the sinus infection (I am congested, and now have a chest cough) and another round of abx will kill it? I’d hate to have him go digging around in my teeth for no reason.
grr.
In other news, I finally tried the sponge mop refill of the Mr Clean Magic Eraser yesterday on the kitchen floor. Thank you so much to Dominique for telling me about them!
I know I’ve mentioned it before but that floor is the bane of my existence. You know? I was impressed. It was $6.99 at Orchard Supply Hardware (is that a national store chain?) and I’ve heard that it’s supposed to last about 3 months. I can’t see how that’s possible, and we have a dinky kitchen, but whatever. It did get the layer of grime out of the linoleum grooves and it was satisfactory to see the sink water run gray while I wrung it out. The floor isn’t quite as glisteny as if I scrubbed Cinderella-style with a Magic Eraser, but it’s so close I think I’ll stick to this method for a while.
It was a bit tricky to figure out how to disengage the mop head I had, but once I did, attaching the refill was really easy. The directions were clear, and in the package were some pieces to attach to your mop if needed (I needed one of the blue plastic screws).
While at OSH, I picked up what I think is the blinds cleaner Jennibell told me about. It’s a white plastic thing with a green microfiber cover and three slots for blinds. You squeeze the handle while running it between the slats to get them clean. I haven’t used it yet—but I’m kind of excited.
yes. I’m excited to clean blinds. I know. I’m terribly dorky.
Today:
run any last minute errands for non-perishable supplies for next Thursday
Steph: GO TO THE PHARMACY. stop putting it off!

Good morning!
We’re in the midst of minimum-day-madness. I don’t like it. I’d rather keep the kids home then get up, get everyone fed, dressed, and on their way just to have them home again in a short 4 hours.
grr.
We’re doing pretty well with our Thanksgiving preparations. The kids have begun to decorate with construction paper creations, and that’s pretty much where our decorations will end. I’m not a fussy table dresser.
Today:
continue to prepare for Thanksgiving
cross odds and ends off of your shopping list
daily 7 –spend extra time in the bathrooms today

Hello! Good morning to a brand new week!
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Make sure to do your weekend recovery today and keep on track with your winter holiday shopping and Thanksgiving timelines. Have you figured out holiday greeting cards? Do you know what picture of the kids/family you’d like to use?
Today:
the weekend!
317 & 318
If you’re having a house full of people for Thanksgiving, start prepping now. Do any major cleaning that you feel you *must* accomplish in order to feel confident. Do you need to wipe down the kitchen cabinets? Move out the stove and clean underneath? the fridge? Clorox wipe the blinds? You know yourself, and you know what is important—and it’s different for every person. I like to Cinderella-clean the kitchen floor. Twice. I like to go over it once with a Magic Eraser, then again with a scrubby sponge and cleanser. And then I sponge mop. It’s nuts, it’s overkill, no one notices OR cares, except for me.
It makes me feel good.
What’s the one thing that will make you feel really good, really accomplished? Get it over and done with now, so next weekend you can begin prepping food and setting out platters.
This weekend:
deep clean the one thing that bugs you the most
make a timeline for Thanksgiving. Do you have to do a butcher run? a bakery run? delegate side dishes? borrow crockpots? Write it all down, so then you can outsource the tasks.
Thursday, catch up day

I took the baby swimming today (yesterday. I’m typing this on Wed @3:33pm) and she loved it. She patted the water, squealed, splashed, and kicked her little heart out. We were in the water for over an hour and since she only napped for 15 minutes in the car earlier, I was CERTAIN she’d take a nice long nap this afternoon so I could get some stuff done.
I’ve learned my lesson. I can never be certain, ever again, for as long as I live with kids in the house.
because they MAKE NO SENSE.
instead of some much-needed sleep, she is holding on to the side of her crib rail, and bouncing. She’s not fussing—she’s having a ball. She’s figured out how to turn on and off the mobile (it has a switch on the side, it’s not a crank), and is having the time of her life in there.
Today:
catch up on all the stuff you were supposed to get done this week
clean up your desk area
Wednesday, clobber the clutter and cobwebs

Good morning! I’ve got stuff to read over on the crockpot site if you haven’t already seen it, and a giveaway at Totally Together Reviews.
just in case you think I’m slacking off over here…
HA!
Today:
remember on Ally McBeal she always had a theme song for the day running through her head? Pick out a good, upbeat song with a positive message to keep in your head today. I seem to go back and forth between We Are the Champions and the Chumbawamba song that goes “I get knocked down, but I get up again…”
