Avoiding Burnout
Many times when we start new endeavors we fizzle out after a few days or weeks. Although many would think this happens due to laziness, I believe it comes from the drive we have for perfection.
Let Go.
Relax.
This is going to be fun. Take small bites and chew slowly. The most complicated task can be quickly tackled when a plan is in place.
Today:
Write down the goals you have for your family for this year. Do you plan to take a vacation? Do you need to figure out a plan of paying for this vacation? Are you trying to implement a family meal plan? Family meeting night? Family game or movie night? Is your goal to get homework/schoolwork done by a certain time each day/night without completely losing your cool?
Life is busy–if mealtimes are hectic, don’t try to bring up meaningful conversations or moral dilemmas. Every family has different times when they are all together. Your together time may be while stuck in traffic, or while in a restaurant, waiting for your food to arrive. Don’t stress over trying to create the perfect scene—it doesn’t exist. This is real life. Capture the moment whenever and wherever it presents itself.
Striving for excellence motivates you; striving for perfection is demoralizing. –Harriet Braiker

“Let go. Relax”. I feel better already.
I love your practical, clear-seeing ways.
