Totally Together

Welcome!

March 5, 2009 by

welcome_mat1

It’s here, it’s finally here! I started working on this site back in August, and I didn’t get very far.

And then Jennette came along. I love Jennette. I fell in love with her Pasta Queen blog about 18 months ago, and her book, Half-Assed kept me company on my flight to New York last month. Her writing style is phenomenal– I love her sense of humor and how I needed to clasp my hand to my mouth to keep from bugging the lady next to me (she was very serious with her piles of paper and clipboard). I highly recommend her if you need any web/blog design creating or tweaking.

Another super-cool thing about this site is the way the comments work. You (or I can!) are able to directly reply to a specific commenter, which is so very neat.

The purpose of this blog is to help promote Totally Together: An Organizational Journal for the Busy Household. I came up with the idea of a daily or weekly planner for moms 7 years ago, when my “baby” was 6 months old. I had lists all over the place—-some pertained to work, some to keeping the apartment in order, some to financial and personal goals. I had a number of personal interests: gardening, crafts, writing, fung shui, fitness, nutrition, education—but it seemed that at the end of the day I never got to do anything I wanted to do because I was too busy working on the stuff I thought I was supposed to be doing.

So I put my lists together. I wanted to create a planner for moms. You can read the whole idea-to-book story on the About Page.

I have a lot of people to thank. I have listed them on the Acknowledgments Page (that’s how you spell that. I checked. It looks weird.) Not only do I have the best family in the history of the universe, many of the women I have met over the years are also writers. Check out their work—-they are fantastic.

Thank you so much for all of your support and love; I truly appreciate every positive thought, email, and comment. It means so much. Thank you.

Coming up soon?

Gluten-free, egg-free, nut-free “girl scout” cookies! I am so excited. The kids and I made 3 kinds so far. Now I really need to Shred.

I am SO excited to get this in the mail! I just pre-ordered it from Amazon – it’s so affordable! I have a million lists around the house and don’t have a lot of focus most of the time, so I think this sounds just wonderful. I’m glad you finally got it published!

LOVE your blog and so excited to have another place to go for resources and encouragement. I have a very busy house of 6 and don’t have time for all the lists and all that needs done. With people like you, people like me are encouraged to cook wonderful meals and get more organized. Thanks and looking forward to this.

Oh wow, Stephanie! This looks great. I (kind of obsessively) stalked your crockpot blog – it is so nice to have recipes that are tested out by a real person with real kids. I’m super excited for this blog too – a “real life” perspective on organization. I always say that I like to be organized more than I like to get organized. A family member bought your book for me for Christmas, so I’m anxiously watching the mail! Great job :)

Congratulations, Stephanie!! My life is perfectly organized from the time I rise at 5:45 (to bake fresh bread for the day) until I fall at 9:15 (one mustn’t let anything get in the way of being completely rested). I guess I have no use for your book.

Or is that my life in Bizarro world? Yes, Bizarro world it is.

Can’t wait to see the book :-)

    Hi,

I’ve been following your crockpot blog for awhile now, amazed every time at all the great recipes you do! I am always making up a pot of your crockpot applesauce…and my in-laws loved it, too! It just fills up the house with this amazing aroma!!

I put up a posting on my blog about your new blog and book. I’m off to pre-order it myself right now! :)

    Thanks for all you do!

    This looks super-cool Steph!

And I am looking forward to those “Girl Scout” cookies — the last time a real Girl Scout came to my door, I said “Oh, we can’t have those. We have allergies” and she literally RAN away from my door. I have no idea what she thought I said or what she thinks allergies are or if I forgot to wash my hair and put on makeup that day, but it was funny. And sad. So make those cookies. Thanks!

I am a SAHM, homeschooler, consultant for Transportation Insight. Love healthy eating…have a daughter Graci who is Gluten, dairy, nut, limited soy, msg, additives allergies. We were so so happy to get Eggs back…I cried when I made bread with eggs again! Silly mom. But you can cook great meals and have dinner with your family using time skills and CROCKpots. I love, love your recipes. Have sent your emails to the masses. xoxox Tona, Colorado

Congrats!!!! Cool site. Love the comment coolness. I’ve pre-ordered my book and waiting for it’s arrival. Now about those gluten free, egg free, nut free GS cookies. How do I get my hands on those? As always, you rock!

Thank you, Stacey! I don’t know why Amazon says that—the last I heard from my editor is that it would be April. I’ll check in with her again, though.

How exciting! I’ve been having the post-blog blues now that you have finished your crock pot year. But, I’ve been inspired to start my own project and I can’t wait for your journal to come out. I’m going to pre-order mine next week. Good luck!

So glad to see this up and running! I am also a faithful reader of the crockpot blog but started late in the year – I’m still catching up and reread a lot of the entries for ideas. I’ve been anxiously awaiting this, though, because I need serious organization help! Can’t wait to get started!

Bravo, Stephanie! It looks great. How cool that you found someone to work with you to get exactly what you want–those folks are godsends! I just put one of your recipes in the crockpot. I had planned an oven dish, but my heating element burned up last night. Is that a message? Or, was my oven sabotaged by my jealous crockpot? (I am imagining wild appliance goings on like in The Brave Little Toaster. LOL)

Looking forward to the GS cookie recipes. I’ll be back!

Steph, I spent most of last year worshipping your Crockpot Blog (I made the lasagna AND the spinach-cheese noodles this week), and most of this year feeling just a wee bit sad that you weren’t writing daily updates any more. It was like, suddenly I wasn’t getting letters from a dear friend (never mind that you wouldn’t know me if you tripped over me)–I’ve missed you!

And now you will be supplying me with desperately needeed organization tips! It’s like my birthday and Christmas rolled into one! You are SO awesome!

I can’t wait to see the gf Girl Scout Cookie recipes! I have been drooling over the ones coworkers brought in this week. I haven’t missed gluten in 3 years, but those Girl Scout Cookies, man, they are EVIL!

Thank you in advance. And please don’t freak if I drop in every few days and thank you again–I am SO grateful that you share your great ideas!

For real? GF, nut free girl scout cookies? I AM VERY EXCITED ABOUT THAT. And I will definitely need to shred also. :)

I think it would be fun to have a digital version someday, too. I’d like to work on that in the future. I have found, though, that I personally do better with pen and paper. I get bogged down quickly with bells and whistles and get sidetracked by the Internet. often. ;-) xoxo steph

    Good luck!!

    Stephanie,
I can’t wait to get the Journal! I pre-ordered it on Amazon and they give a release date of June 11, 2009 – yet you say it will be available in stores in April. Can you clarify when we can expect to get it?

Thanks for all you do – loved crockpot365 & this site is looking like it will be fabulous too!

Oh boy! Maybe you can organize my closing down of business/migrating to another country/packing five lives/ant infestation/sick old cat/etc/etc/etc? Maybe that’s asking too much… Okay, a little help anywhere will be appreciated! My crockpot sends love and kisses.

Hey Steph, love the Crockpot site, I was really hoping that your Totally Together Journal was an online option for busy moms, I would much rather type into a planner than carry a book, or handwrite, (gasp) with so much great digital stuff out there. Can you please convert your ideas into a digital version, online? I already use Google calendar, and hubby and kids post their dates and times on there, but a what to accomplish today, add on would be fab! Just my 2 cents worth, I am not very organized but would like to be…:)

  27. Stephanie on March 5th, 2009 12:45 pm

thanks, Sera! I’m so pleased with how the book turned out.
